Having portrayed a myriad of multi-dimensional roles across the Middle East (Gaza Mon Amour) and west (HBO’s Succession), Hiam Abbass straddles a unique place within the film industry, as not only an Arab actress – but a poignant talisman for change.

In her latest role as Aicha in the four-part Disney+ series #Oussekine –which centres on the tragic death of French-Algerian student Malik Oussekine, who died in police custody in 1986 – she once again uses her voice and platform to elevate a powerful and little-told story of injustice.
